MY LOVEABLE FAMILY.
|
- Grown up in a lovely five member family, I am very happy and satisfied with our sweet atmosphere in Taiwan. My father retired from senior officer and my mother is still teaching in a primary school in central Taiwan. Both my younger brother Daniel and sister Rachel got their Master Degree in the USA and are currently working in Taipei, Taiwan. Thanks to the magic internet facilities, especially the e-mails, I can easily manage to contact my mom, dad, my brother and sister from time to time, although I am physically and geographically very far away from them.
- My father always carefully takes care of our garden as well as his tons of bonsais after work, and I enjoyed a very happy childhood with greenery! I especially love bonsais and I ever did some by myself while I was working in Taiwan. Usually it takes time to cultivate the appropriate plants and also trim them carefully at proper times, or shape the branches into a better form. It is really art work in that you deal with aesthetic composition as well as planting knowhow, and make it an epitome of natural phenomena or shapes, isn't it?
- The nickname Charlie-Chuck-Chuck was given by my dear host family -- Kathy, Rick and Sally in North Yorkshire, UK. They are very kind British people and they helped me a lot from time to time. I will unveil more interesting stories later in the website!

MY CHARACTERS AND INTERESTS.
|
- I am an optimistic, idealistic, outgoing, straight, charming and communicative gentleman. My zodiac star sign is Sagittarius, whose characteristics are generally known as optimistic, jovial, honest, straightforward, intellectual, philosophical, freedom-loving and good-humoured. And I believe that the above mentioned can help you figure out what kind of person I am.
- Ever since my childhood, my father used to encourage and help me create toys by hand rather than purchasing from shops. And I like the creative way of making things, from as simple as a tiny tool (like an electrical eraser) to a furniture (like a screen or table). Also, I've enjoyed very good performances and results in my arts and crafts related courses since the primary, junior and senior high schools.
- I used to practice watercolour paintings since I was as young as seven years old. I also took part in a lot of contests in primary or high schools and I won many awards, ranging from internal competitions within schools to external contests such as national, regional awards in Taiwan. I was very happy with my colourful childhood indeed.
- Apart from the handicrafts and watercolour paintings, I joined Jhong-Sing Juvenile Choir, a local choir in central Taiwan, since I was nine years old. And I participated in several formal performances with the choir in central Taiwan.
- I believe and have learnt some knowledge in zodiac star signs. And from some Gurus in Taiwan I also learnt the Zih-Wei-Dou-Shu fortune telling (kind of eastern star signs) and Fong-Shui. Actually I've been trying to reinterpret and adapt them for the use in today's new applications.
- I particularly fancy the bed time
story of Cinderella
and imagine myself as a hard working Prince,
paving the way for a bright and promising future with the very Cinderella whom I've been desperately looking for.
I dream of enjoying ballroom dancing with my Cinderella,
who shall be dressed up trendily like a gorgeous princess or supermodel,
in a splendid palace encircled by glorious blossomy rose gardens.
I dream of travelling around the world with my Cinderella from time to time;
such as looking for Shangrila in higher mountains, or
staying on an uninhabited tropical islet where any style of romances is developable.
I also dream of having five children with my Cinderella, as I think a loving and devoted couple deserves more kids. :p
So far, I am only sure that my Cinderella is a girl, but I am not sure where she is! :p

MY SOCIAL LIFE IN THE UK.
|
- I used to be actively involved in Taiwanese students' events in the UK.
Also, I am one of the founders of the TSAUK (Taiwanese Student Association
in the UK), which was firmly consolidated and systematically organised
thanks to the Chinese missile tests, -- exercised by the Chinese government
and aimed at the seas just miles away from Taiwan in 1996.
- I was assigned as the compere/ host of the New Year Party held by
TSAUK in 1997. That was a very successful Taiwanese event in London
and there were more than 350 participants attending the party. And
since then, I won the nick names "Prince Star"
or "The Prince" in the TSAUK.
- Being a member and volunteer of the TAIUK, Taiwanese Association
in the UK, I used to be in charge of film recording or photo taking
in the lectures given by the visiting officials of Taiwan's government,
or in the public activities such as food fairs, seminars and the likes held by TAIUK.
The most significant achievement so far was the whole set of film recording
for the current President of Taiwan, Mr. Chen Shui-bian, who visited the Taiwanese
society, the British think tanks, institutions, officials in the UK
during the election campaign in December 1999.
- I had been one of the seven elected Trustees (Committee) of the TAIUK,
Taiwanese Association in the UK, and I was in charge of the publicity division
as well as the webmaster of TAIUK in both 2001~2002 and 2002~2003 terms.
- Currently I am the organiser of the GALT (Global Association for Languages of Taiwan)
in the UK, and also in charge of setting up the website "Taiwan Pinyin Online" for
the promotion of the all-in-one romanisation phonetic system: Tongyong Pinyin, which covers Mandarin, Hakka and Holo languages in Taiwan.
Besides, I've issued a quarterly online news letter: Taiwan Pinyin Classroom.
- Sometimes, I go for pubbing with friends as this is very popular way of socialising in the UK, while sometimes I cook Taiwanese style meals by myself and invite friends to come and enjoy a good time together.
- Future Plan: Actually I've been looking for a gorgeous dancing mate to practise with in order to
upgrade the proficiency in ballroom dancing together. In addition, I hope to win some dancing awards in the near future.
So, if you are a slim blonde female in greater London, as tall as 160cm ~ 168cm, who'd like to promote
the proficiency in ballroom dancing with a talented gentleman like me, please don't hesitate in contacting me via email. Cheers!

MY PROFICIENCY IN COMPUTING.
|
- As today's life or work has been largely associated with computing,
such as editing, publishing, designing or the likes, I believe that
people who are capable of more of the related techniques could win more competitivity in the job market.
The following is a list of functions or applications that I am capable of or have been working on.
- Assembling a computer for appropriate purposes.
- Windows Operation System (Windows 98, NT, 2000 - including the installation), Microsoft Words, Microsoft Power Points, etc.
- Design and modelling: AutoCAD (R11~R14, 2000), 3d Studio Max (v 3.1), MicroStation.
- E-Publication: Adobe Acrobat ( *.pdf Portable Documentary Format), Adobe PageMaker. Besides, I am fully capable of making e-Books and I'm making my CV in the form of an e-Book.
- Image Processing or Manipulation: Adobe PhotoShop, Ulead PhotoImpact, Paint Shop Pro,
Illustrator, Ulead Gif Animator (for animation gif), LViewPro (gif98a format)
- Website related techniques that I'm capable of:
- HTML: the acronym for "Hyper Text Markup Language", a relatively simple scripting with defined tags. Texts and images are visually integrated through the HTML as well as browsers. -- I am fully capable of making and manipulating HTML files directly through my hand typing that based on my rich script knowledge, for this reason, I don't need any software to make HTML files; or, I can easily handle and get into any software if someone wants me to do so.
- DHTML: Dynamic HTML, An extension of HTML giving greater control over the layout of
page elements and the ability to have web pages which change and interact with the user without
having to communicate with the server. That is to say, DHTML is client side application, not server side. For live example, please click on the top left of this webpage for midi music.
- Javascript: mainly a client side application available for interacting or communicating with your own browser even when you are offline. The entry of the E-card centre or my CV are the examples.
- PERL CGI: Common Gateway Interface, a server side application/ scripting that needs to communicate with the server, in other words, CGI cannot run when your pc is logged off the internet. CGI is generally used for interactive effects or automatic control, such as the guestbook, bulletin board, calendar, chatroom, postcard, and so on. I ever modified a script from its initial postcard function into psycological test use. Interesting, isn't it?
- Digital filming: the recording through V8 Cam-corder or Digital Cam-corder; the making/conversion using softwares such as Real Producer; as well as simple editing and converting into digital formats for internet circulation. Recently I'm trying to edit and convert a digital record of the TAIUK choir performance into a Video-CD.

MY SKETCH DRAWINGS.
|
- I like doing sketches, either in a stop-off of a trip or for design drafts. In most of the time I work with free hand sketches, through which I can manage to record a scenic view or to exploit more imaginations out of a proposed space or form through the manipulation of simple lines.
- The following is a selection of some of my sketches or free hand drawings that I did before:
- A Gate in a Museum in Oxford, UK.
Oxford is famous for its colleges and museums. I enjoyed the student life while I was attending urban design and architectural courses in Brookes University.
- The Victoria Garden in Harrogate, UK.
I love Harrogate, where my dearest host family Kathy, Rick and Sally live their happy life there. It is the beautiful place I stayed in when I first arrived in the UK.
- Old street in Da-Si, Taiwan.
Scenic sketch at an old town in Da-Si, Tao-Yuan in northern Taiwan. I like to visit old towns and record the townscape, streetscape as well as details of traditional buildings. This sketch was done while I was in 2-year national army service in Taiwan. As my military base was close to old towns such as Da-Si, Tao-yuan or Hu-Kou, Sin-Jhu, I did it while I was at off duty times. The details in the sketch indicate the historical reflection of an old Taiwanese town under colonisation by Japan.
- Untitled sketch, #201. (Hotel Project.)
- Untitled sketch, #506. (Memorial Project.)
- Untitled sketch, #803. (Bethleham Proj for JCUD, OBU.)
- Untitled sketch, #809. (Bethleham Proj for JCUD, OBU.)
- Untitled sketch, #820. (Bethleham Proj for JCUD, OBU.)

MY YUMYUM COOKING RECIPES.
|
- I like cooking and find it joyful whenever I tried out new recipes at my leisure times.
- I evaluate any good recipe with the Three Principles of Colour, Smell and Taste. And I regard the "colour" as the top agenda out of the three, because I reckon that the colour of recipes influences the appetite most. - which is probably having something to do with my colour sensitive professionals, hehehe... ^+++++^
- Apart from the colours, I also take the "composition" of recipes into deep cosideration: Not only the composition of the ingredients but also the layout within the containers/ dishes or on the table.
- The yumyum recipes to be unveiled in the website are including Fried rices, Hot and Sour Soup, Architect's Recipes, some Taiwanese Style Recipes and the likes, made by Charlie-Chuck-Chuck.
- Please refer to the following coloured images of recipes by clicking on each hyperlink:

CHARLIE-CHUCK-CHUCK'S CALLIGRAPHY.
|
- I spent a lot of time and efforts practicing the chinese- style calligraphy -- which is
popular in China, Japan, Taiwan and other Asian countries -- in my childhood. And I
won some awards in the primary school. These kind of calligraphical exercises help to
improve aesthetical senses in styles, layouts as well as composition. It is generally
accepted that a nicer personal hand writing or signature style is benefitted from such
calligraphical practices.
- I also worked out some personal calligraphical styles of my own when I was attending
architectural courses in the National Cheng-Kung University in Taiwan. I used to manipulate and
play with personalised chinese-style calligraphy on weekends in the university.
- I value the skills and make use of them in other products of my own,
such as the postcards or the website design works. Hopefully I'll take advantage of them
in architectural, urban or interior design works some day!
